GPHG 2024

Having become an academician of the GPHG back in 2022, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity (both physical and moral) to attend the presentation of the main watch prizes in 2022 and 2023. I proposed original candidates for this competition (Circula, Gelfman), and of course I voted, but I was desperate to attend.

This year, gathering all my willpower, I went to Geneva for two days and got a lot of impressions. On November 13, the city lived in anticipation of the evening, and many watchmakers could be found in the city, who walked like true tourists. Unlike Watches and Wonders or Geneva watch days, their days are focused on the exhibition and here they just enjoyed the city. I think you understand how it feels.

24th edition of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) was taking place like always in Théatre du Léman. Before the event every academician and participant gets the invitation for the Cérémonie. And it always comes as a real paper.

The event begins already on the stairs, you are met by Geneva canton guards in full dress uniform. Of course, everyone is trying to take a picture with them. At the same time, Wei Koh and Eleonor Picciotto are interviewing the most significant and important guests and heroes of this evening. They ask them about their predictions and their chances of winning. All this was being broadcast on screens inside the theater and was also on Euronews this year.

I had an idea to take Bauche Stargazer to the event to hear the reaction of my friends.
